Rag day was REALLY FUN!
The floats were seriously awesome. And USP WON BEST FLOAT DESIGN (faculty/club category) !!! WHOOHOO!!! =D We were jumping up and down and screaming like mad when the emcee announced it hahaha =D yay!
The hall floats were really really good. They were seriously in a whole different class from ours! My favourites were Eusoff's (they won best float design, hall category) and Kent Ridge's. Amazing, seriously. I can't wait til the photos are on facebook!
The other dances were pretty awesome too. Again, hall dances tended to be better by quite a bit. Their costumes in particular made me cringe in envy and shame when I thought back to the costumes we had had to make do with for VJ's dance concerts. Vibrant colours and elaborate designs to the MAX!
Out of the dances, though, I thought medicine won hands down legs up. They could even have given most of the halls a run for their money! They were amazing. (Met Reg later, realised she was in the Med dance! Haha) Eusoff's dance was clearly the best out of all the halls, although the hall dances tended to be (in Marvin's words!) "rather incoherent." They were really elaborate and neat, though, and often full of stunts and different costumes (or costume changes). Most of the hall dances were pretty good, though. Oh, Prema was dancing for Eusoff hall! (Instead of USP. =( ! but haha okay I can see why...)
After the whole thing ended and we pushed the floats and stuff back to central forum, we had a debrief with the giving out of "golden spanners" (spanners painted gold) to top rag contributors. There were quite a few! Haha. It was pretty fun, and I think they really deserved it - people like Phoe, Jerome, YongHao, LiRu, Yuan Yi, Alvin, Genim, Leonard, Mik, Chris, Phyllis, etc. =) Yay!
They're already talking about Phoebe and I choreographing the rag dance next year, which is expected, I guess. I'm not sure =/ I'm still not entirely for rag, still finding it generally a great waste of time and resources. Then again, it's true that it does really bond people and it's fun if you win! Haha. Although the joy doesn't QUITE make up for all the wasted hours. Then again, I would like the choreograph. Choreographing the class dances in sec2 was AWESOME, as was choreographing the IP dance for Regale or Butterflies&Hurricanes for Footnotes. It's just fun to take ownership of a dance! Haha. Among other things, of course.
Well, there's still a long time to go! Guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. =)
