The moon is always nicer when there's someone to enjoy it with. Haha. I got the quote from this Calvin and Hobbes comic book my brothers borrowed. I'm rather sad that I've finished reading them (all three! ugh gonna fail As at this rate) because yeah they're really funny and witty and gorgeous haha I LOVE Calvin and Hobbes seriously. Sigh.
But yes. So I'm not up on the roof tonight. David wanted to go all the way to the top yesterday when he mum and I went out to see. It's lovely sharing stuff with him. He really appreciates these kind of things.
I think it's partly because he's a romantic at heart (or in the making, I suppose) but also a lot because he's still so young. Daniel is sometimes so jaded.
I mean, he's funny, and really great to talk to (conversations with David tend to either end really abruptly or degenerate into childish argument - "did not." "did too." "did not." "did too infinity!" "did not INFINITY PLUS ONE!" "you can't infinity plus one!" "can too." "can not." "can too." ...you get the idea)
...but in the end, Daniel often sees the low side of life. Not the depressed side, just the really practical, right-now, your-little-world-little-life side. David does too, because he's still such a kid, but he's also open to the big ideas. The big dreams.
When we went up on the roof that one afternoon, it was David who wanted to go exploring the roofs. Daniel was far from scared, but he just went, "Oh, nice. Okay, I'm going back in." David wanted to see all the rest of the houses. We play hide-and-seek. Shout from the rooftop. Sing at the top of our voices to the world there. Little things. But sometimes it's when we let go of these little things that never seem to matter, to hold on to the big things that we think do -- that's when we lose sight of the even larger things that really do matter.
Big big world... =)
