*hugs* haha i seem to be doing this a lot lately, but well, yeah, thanks so much
!! it really meant a lot to me, and all your support really gave me confidence today.
so. we played republic poly.
lets recap - rp beat sa (by quite a lot). sa beat vj 41-30 (which is also quite a lot). our chances of winning? lets just say its better not to be too optimistic.
but after the first quarter, the score was 23-24. so close!! at first i was super intimidated and everything, but slowly managed to calm down. the bad thing about being a defender is that you feel that every pass that lands in the hands of the opp team in your area is your fault. even more if you're a keeper (which i was today), because the player you're guarding (as a shooter) is the one scoring all the goals.
me and jacq (gk and gd respectively) were
QUITE worried. our shooters were
REALLY tall.
i felt like i was under a lot of pressure. i could hear wanling and others shouting directions from across the court. it was very confusing and i wasnt too sure what they wanted me to do. >< i was also worried that jacq would be really angry/disappointed in me. after all, she's been playing with wanling and glanies, just the world's best defenders. so im exaggerating, but they ARE very good. another worry was that if i did not show i could play gk, i'd be stuck as a wd for the rest of my time in vj. i like playing wd - like glan says, its fun - but i like playing gd/gk too.
then they switched the shooter to this small darkskinned girl. so happy! haha i actually managed to intercept the pass to her, and their coach shouted, "XXXX's not that tall! look where you're throwing! her defender is taller than her!" after that, they didnt lob as much to her. haha. and it rained (we played on) and the court was really slippery. a girl from the opp defence did a split trying to catch the ball. everyone kept missing passes and sliding and falling cos of the wet ball/ground. however, this also meant we were not tired - the slippery floor made everyone run less and more slowly, thus conserving energy. all in all, it was a good game. the last quarter, a lot of shots were wasted, but i felt that our team was coorperating better now.
the final score was 36-40, to rp. =)
